Job Description
At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.
Joining Relativity means becoming part of a team where autonomy, ownership, and impact are valued at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving unprecedented problems, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you're in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you'll collaborate across teams, influence decisions, and see your work come to fruition rapidly. Relativity fosters a culture where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will shape our shared story. This is a unique moment to leave your mark on the product, process, and culture, with Terran R gaining momentum. The most meaningful work of your career awaits. Join us.
About the Team:
The Avionics team manages the full lifecycle of Terran R's nervous system, designing, building, testing, installing, and operating hardware that connects and controls the vehicle's electrical systems. The team combines avionics design, manufacturing, and testing to enable rapid iteration and feedback. Engineers work closely with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage teams to ensure seamless integration and operation. Now is a prime time to join and help shape Terran R's avionics architecture with high ownership on key components.
About the Role:
You will own the design, routing, and integration of electrical wire harnesses within the Terran R Avionics System, from conception through qualification and production, including connectors, cables, and supports. This role involves collaboration across disciplines such as structures, electrical hardware, propulsion, and software to optimize system-level design via architecture trades and requirements definition. You will use 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and electrical design software to produce detailed designs considering manufacturing and testing needs. You will validate designs through rapid prototyping and testing campaigns, and support vehicle integration activities by defining avionics system operations, checkouts, and test plans.
About You:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
5+ years in a full lifecycle design engineering role
Experience with electrical harness design and mechanical routing in 3D CAD software
Experience with integration and testing of complex, multi-disciplinary electrical systems
Nice to haves:
Proficiency with NX CAD and Teamcenter
Experience with Zuken E3 electrical design software
Scripting and software development skills (e.g., Python, LabView, C/C++)
Experience developing electrical/mechanical test fixtures and harnessing
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL/HITL) testing systems
Relativity Space values transparency and fairness in compensation. Salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
Our total rewards include competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, an annual learning stipend, and more. For details, visit our benefits page.
