As a Client Account Manager, Vice President for Higher Education in our Cities & Places practice in West Central, you will have the opportunity to impact strategic business relationships with key clients to ensure Jacobs maintains sustained client relationships, achieves client satisfaction, and fully leverages these relationships for mutual benefit. Your focus will be to elevate Jacobs as the firm-of-choice for Higher Education clients in Texas and throughout our West Central Region. You will also ensure Jacobs has a thorough understanding of clients’ needs and is seen as their best advocate for accomplishing their goals. In this role, you will lead select Higher Education client accounts, primarily located in Texas and throughout Jacobs’ West Central region. You will collaborate with and lead our delivery teams to sustain existing workload, grow our pipeline, and develop strategies for transformational contracts. This position will be based in or near a major metropolitan location in Texas (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin). During your time with us, you will: Serve as the primary contact for client service activities and develop strategies to grow the higher education practice for various clients in Texas and the region, including design and PMCM services. Work with the Geographic Cities & Places Market Growth Director to align Higher Education strategy within the broader West Central portfolio. Identify, charter, and lead client service teams consisting of multi-disciplinary project managers and regional practice leaders around a shared vision of success. Foster deep, personal, and valuable client relationships between Jacobs’ personnel and client staff (management, technical, functional, delivery) to build a broad-based relationship network. Advocate on behalf of clients by actively engaging the firm to address their needs and recommend strategic actions to optimize business development and market share growth. Identify opportunities for higher levels of client engagement, including securing executive sponsorship. Gain management commitment and attract key staff for pursuits. Collaborate with office and corporate leaders on strategies for key hiring, project pursuits, team and office growth, profitability, and employee development and satisfaction. Engage with project and sales teams to influence pursuit strategies, sales processes, proposals, interviews, and presentations. Coordinate and facilitate the sales process, including Go/No-Go decisions, and help develop sales costs aligned with opportunity potential and ROI. Participate in industry organizations and community engagement to build relationships and enhance our brand. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or planning, or equivalent experience. Have at least 15 years of experience in architecture, engineering, or related disciplines within the higher education market sector. Proven success in coordinating teams and winning work on regional or statewide levels within the Higher Ed market. Maintain high-level contacts and strong relationships with major Higher Education clients, with a successful track record of winning work. Possess sales knowledge, including contract identification, responding to RFPs, interviewing, and winning new work. Ability to collaborate with diverse internal teams and potential partners to develop responsive teams for clients. Be a strong team leader, consensus builder, and effective communicator with technical writing and presentation skills. Demonstrated leadership in the Higher Education market and active community and political engagement. Technical experience delivering or managing Higher Education projects is a plus, adding credibility in architecture, consulting, engineering, and construction services. Ideally, you will also have: Proven ability to develop strong relationships with key clients at all levels. Skill in initiating relationships at the client organization to serve as a business leader and account team leader. Ability to set vision and strategy, mentor teams, and drive accountability for sales goals. Leadership through influence and high emotional intelligence. Innovative, solutions-oriented thinking and client political savviness. A background in delivering or managing Higher Education projects adds credibility and is considered a positive. Seniority level
