Pay Range: $32.00 - $52.08 per hour

Summary

The Research Engineer will support lab research by recruiting and scheduling participants, collecting data, and ensuring timely patient follow‑up. They will perform data processing and analysis and collaborate on computational modeling approaches using OpenSim to investigate and develop new therapeutic strategies. This role includes opportunities for authorship in peer-reviewed publications and opportunities for professional development in research and modeling techniques as requested. Required Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Exercise Science, or related field. Experience in clinical or research settings involving participant recruitment, scheduling, and data collection. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and database applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations. Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi disciplinary team settings. Availability to work variable hours, including evenings or weekends, as required by study protocols.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, or related field preferred. Experience with computational modeling (OpenSim) and relevant programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python). Prior involvement in research protocol development, manuscript preparation, or scientific publications. Demonstrated interest in biomechanics research and quantitative data analysis.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; frequent use of computers. Occasional requirement for lifting and transporting research equipment (up to 25 lbs). May require travel to remote data collection sites and ability to conduct field assessments. Mental concentration to manage scheduling, data entry, and analysis tasks.

Responsibilities

Recruit, screen, and schedule study participants; maintain timely follow up with patients via phone, email, or other communication methods. Collect clinical and biomechanical data per established research protocols, ensuring data quality and troubleshooting field issues. Assist with data entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis; prepare data reports and visualizations for the research team. Develop and implement computational musculoskeletal models in OpenSim to investigate therapeutic strategies, in collaboration with senior researchers. Contribute to manuscript drafting, presentations, and grant proposals; support dissemination of study findings. Maintain study documentation, supply inventory, and study related materials, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Participate in regular team meetings and provide technical assistance for research equipment and software. Pursue professional development opportunities in modeling techniques and attend relevant workshops or seminars.
