535608 – Director of Athletics Communications (MBB) Job Summary: Directs the development and distribution of news releases to various information media under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director. Maintains public relations with the University community and the state of Florida. Publicize every aspect of intercollegiate athletics, including serving as the primary contact for men's basketball and other sports as assigned Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department. Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Director Sports Information. Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations. Directly supervises federal work study personnel, and/or part-time employees/interns. Collaborates with External Relations on all collateral material and brand messaging and strategy.. Ensures that the assignments of the Assistant Athletic Director are consistent with the unit efforts to set the tone for informational services for the promotion of intercollegiate athletics events, coaches, and student athletes Manages details for media coverage of home events. Travels to designated away events to act as media liaison. Plans and executes the preparation of editorial content for game programs, media guides, releases, newsletters, the Internet and assists to coordinate production and design. Procures game operations personnel for events as needed following prescribed University procedures for employment sign-on. Adheres to the strict confidentiality of personal and academic data pertaining to each student-athlete. Responsible for direct interface with the athletic department's academic support unit and resultant availability of confidential personal and academic data pertaining to each student-athlete. Coordinates the content and layout of all printed material, and the organization and planning of athletic events, under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director. Records and reports game statistics to the conference office and NCAA as necessary. Arranges photo sessions as needed for individuals and special events, as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director. Maintains internet pages, posts releases and photographs.
