Junior Cybersecurity Engineer Columbus, Ohio Brooksource is seeking entry-level Cybersecurity Engineers to join our client in January 2026. As a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on protecting enterprise systems and data. You’ll assist in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security threats while gaining hands-on experience with modern cybersecurity tools and frameworks. We are hiring for multiple positions that will be part of a professional development program including technical and professional training. This role requires individuals who are curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field Familiarity with security tools such as Wireshark, Splunk, or Nessus Understanding of networking fundamentals and common protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) Exposure to security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Basic knowledge of scripting or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell) Awareness of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Primary Responsibilities: Assist in monitoring and analyzing security alerts and incidents Support vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts Participate in threat intelligence gathering and reporting Collaborate with teams to ensure secure system configurations Contribute to security documentation and compliance efforts Participate in Agile ceremonies such as Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, and Retrospectives Engage in continuous learning through training and hands-on labs Help maintain and improve security tools and dashboards This opportunity is open to individual applicants seeking W-2 employment only.
