Establish and enforce standards for deployment, versioning, model governance, and integration patterns. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge. Design reusable architectural components for value chain workflows and reporting. Guide the integration of optimization models with enterprise and third-party systems (e.g. SAP, JDE, Data Lake, etc.). Support long-term vision for real-time data integration using Microservices architecture pattern. Monitor and manage the costs associated with cloud services and solutions. Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity. Lead architectural reviews and mentor junior architects and engineers. Collaborate across other teams leading lower carbon solutions, integration with Upstream sources, Trading, Refinery mass balancing and scheduling to ensure alignment with business needs. Ensure solutions are scalable, testable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
Secondary Responsibilities
Partner with DevOps and platform teams to ensure CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code practices are in place. Collaborate with data architects to ensure optimization models are production-ready and integrated into enterprise applications. Contribute to the development of architectural documentation, best practices, and knowledge-sharing across teams.
Technical Expertise
Strong understanding of commodity value chain workflows and applications Experience with cloud-native architecture (Azure preferred) and Angular web development framework. Experience with microservices, modular monoliths, and containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes). Proficiency in architectural design patterns, software lifecycle management and Dynamic UI generation on JSON Configuration. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, API-first design, and DevOps practices. Experience in integrating with value chain systems, including Trading (e.g., Right Angle, Endur) and data platforms (e.g., Data Lake & Databricks).
Leadership & Collaboration
Proven experience mentoring and coaching technical teams. Ability to lead architectural reviews and drive consensus. Experience leading and prioritizing the work of technical teams. Strong communication skills across technical and business audiences. Experience working with cross-functional teams including developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders. Strategic mindset with a bias for action and delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, preferably with exposure to Value Chain or Data architecture or similar role. Demonstrated experience designing and delivering enterprise-grade software systems. Experience leading technical teams or cross-functional initiatives is strongly preferred. Skilled in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using a wide stack of Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, among others.
