Senior Design Engineer
Schneider Electric has a meaningful opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer in a hybrid role (2 days per week on-site) based out of Nashville, TN. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and integrating Medium Voltage (MV) air & gas insulated switchgear. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, analyze feasibility, and propose solutions that meet customer needs. Your role includes system analysis, resolving tradeoffs, and driving system engineering tools and processes to optimize performance. Responsibilities include: Design of Medium Voltage air and gas insulated switchgear. Investigating and procuring data for complex designs. Preparing sketches and schematic diagrams. Working independently with minimal supervision. Preparing detailed and assembly drawings. Performing mechanical analysis (tolerance, stress, deformation, kinematic). Adopting Lean Agile practices. Collaborating in diverse team environments and independently. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters preferred. Minimum 5 years of product development experience, or less with an advanced degree. Experience with ANSI/IEEE Medium Voltage switchgear design. Ability to propose complex solutions autonomously. Experience with verification & validation, manufacturing interface, CAD software, and documentation standards. Additional Skills: Designing medium voltage switchgear. Proficiency in CAD tools (ProE, Creo, Auto CAD). Knowledge of testing standards and safety review processes. Experience with Fault Tree Analysis, FMEAs, tolerance, and kinematic analysis.
