Performs Transmission Planning studies including steady-state power flow, transient / dynamic system analysis (including EMT), and / or system harmonic and power quality assessments. Provides technical expertise and analytical support for the transmission planning activities of the Corporation by performing transmission planning studies and evaluating electrical alternatives to support transmission system reliability. Supports Corporate regulatory compliance for transmission planning and related functions. Responsibilities Perform power system modeling and analysis in assigned areas using industry standard and custom software Develop and coordinate transmission solutions that promote system reliability and resiliency Develop technical reports, capital project scopes and justifications, and other procedural documentation Participate in industry committees and transmission planning collaboratives with other electric entities as assigned Coordinate with capital project development and budgeting processes Ensure timely completion of required deliverables with a high level of quality Individuals in this role will gain comprehensive exposure to electric power system analysis, transmission system modeling, generation impacts, interregional power flows, and industry coordination practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Power Systems required; Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and an advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering preferred 6-8+ years of electric utility power systems analysis or planning focused on transmission system planning Proven experience with power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, EMT, PSCAD, or similar software Effective communicator with ability to develop relationships, work cross-functionally, and communicate persuasively Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, etc. Ability to pass NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening Company Brief A transmission-only electric cooperative that plans, builds, and maintains high-voltage electrical infrastructure delivering power to Georgia's 38 Electric Membership Corporations, serving over 4.5 million residents.
