This role is on a hybrid schedule in either our Charlotte, NC or Detroit, MI office. The Director, Supply Chain Contracting holds a pivotal leadership role within the organization, providing strategic direction to drive negotiation of supply chain contracts. You will guide end-to-end contract management development at a directorial level, prioritize initiatives to deliver outcomes aligned with organizational goals, and enhance your team’s understanding of legal terms through training and development. The ideal candidate has extensive contracting expertise, with a successful track record in leading high-stakes contract negotiations and proven leadership skills. As Director, you will oversee the entire contracting process, ensuring meticulous handling of all documents from origination to execution. You will lead high-impact projects, mentor staff, respond to inquiries, address complex challenges, and contribute to the organization’s contract management success. The Work Itself Be agile and adaptable, effectively managing change, assessing risks, and solving problems systematically. Collaborate with executives and leaders to align business priorities and establish strategic objectives. Develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to optimize contracting solutions. Manage responsibilities including sourcing, hiring, coaching, recognizing, developing employees, managing risks, and daily management tasks. Lead with integrity, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for your team. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to explain contract terms and provisions. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, ethical sourcing, and company policies. Identify and mitigate risks related to services contracting. Maintain deep understanding of major contracts, their terms, and key deliverables. Work with legal and risk departments to ensure compliance and maximize contract value. Develop your team’s knowledge of legal terms and conditions. Support initiatives to improve contract processes and templates. Oversee contract management and execution for scope of services. Negotiate favorable terms to secure value and reliability for the company. The Skills You Bring Juris Doctorate required. 7+ years of experience in contract negotiations. Experience managing contracts in regulated industries and financial services preferred. Comfort with risk profiles across various commodities including services, marketing, credit bureaus, and technology. 2+ years of management experience. Knowledge of outsourced vendor agreements, including technology and software. Experience negotiating complex agreements globally. Understanding of supply base and sourcing practices in financial services preferred. Ability to articulate legal risks to business and team members. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience leading virtual teams and driving results remotely. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within deadlines. Proven ability to partner with senior leaders to drive organizational change. High initiative and capacity to work independently. Experience with contract lifecycle management tools preferred.
