Health Information/Medical Records Technician
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented
Health Information Technician
to support the secure and accurate processing of medical records requests. This role requires strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, proficiency in Epic's Release of Information (ROI) module, and a commitment to data accuracy and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have experience handling requests from a variety of sources including patients, providers, and legal representatives. Key Responsibilities:
Receive and prioritize medical records requests from multiple sources (patients, providers, attorneys, etc.). Process requests using Epic's ROI module with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA and applicable state/federal regulations. Respond to inquiries regarding patient information and assist requesters with proper documentation. Educate requesters on confidentiality and privacy policies. Maintain a 95%+ accuracy rate in data entry, e-faxing, and PDF document handling. Utilize tools such as Kofax and PDF applications to manage and transmit records securely. Identify and respond to internal and external customer needs using available resources. Must-Have Qualifications:
35 years of experience processing medical records requests in a healthcare setting. Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Epic's Release of Information (ROI) module. Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA and medical privacy regulations. Proven ability to manage requests from diverse sources (e.g., law offices, physician practices). Proficiency in Kofax, PDF tools, and electronic faxing systems. Strong attention to detail with a minimum 95% accuracy rate in data processing. Preferred Qualifications:
RHIT or RHIA certification (not required). Experience in a hospital or large healthcare system. Familiarity with additional HIM tools or document management systems. The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
