Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineering Lead – AI to drive the architecture and engineering of scalable, production-grade AI solutions. This role blends deep expertise in modern software engineering with a strong grasp of the evolving AI landscape. You will lead a team of talented engineers and collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and AI researchers to build intelligent systems that operate at internet scale. You are not just a technologist—you are a system thinker and a hands-on builder who can architect high-performance services, mentor engineering teams, and deliver robust platforms that support rapid AI experimentation and deployment. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Lead architecture and design of large-scale, distributed AI-enabled platforms and services. System Design: Define scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures for AI applications, ensuring they meet availability, performance, and reliability targets. API & Service Design: Drive the design and implementation of clean, efficient, and developer-friendly APIs that expose AI capabilities to applications and clients. AI Integration: Collaborate with ML/AI teams to integrate model inference and training pipelines into production systems, ensuring robust monitoring, versioning, and scalability. Scalability & Performance: Apply expertise in internet-scale data systems (e.g., sharding, caching, load balancing, eventual consistency) to optimize data and model pipelines. Mentorship: Grow and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers; foster a culture of excellence in engineering and architecture. DevOps & MLOps: Champion automation, CI/CD practices, and observability across AI pipelines and backend systems. Innovation & Strategy: Stay current with emerging trends in AI infrastructure, large model serving, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and help drive technical strategy accordingly. Qualifications Required: 6-10 years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in an engineering leadership/ architecture role. Proven experience in architecting and building distributed systems at internet scale. Deep understanding of software design principles, patterns, and modern microservices architecture. Strong experience with RESTful and GraphQL API design, including versioning, authentication, and throttling strategies. Solid command of any one cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless architectures. Experience with data platforms (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar). Hands-on experience integrating or deploying machine learning models into production environments. Familiarity with AI challenges such as data drift, model versioning, latency tradeoffs, and prompt engineering. Strong coding skills in modern languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript). Preferred: Experience with LLM-based applications, vector databases, and hybrid search pipelines. Familiarity with MLOps tools like MLflow, SageMaker, or Azure ML. Exposure to agent-based systems, RAG architectures, or foundation model orchestration frameworks. Published work, open-source contributions. Seniority level
