The Investment Specialist is a key contributor to the Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) Wealth Client Group's (WCG) Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG), serving as a technical subject matter expert (SME) within specific segments of the capital markets for Northern Trust Wealth Management (NTWM) portfolio advisors and third-party financial intermediaries.
Description (Summary): The Investment Specialist is a critical link between Senior Investment Specialists, portfolio advisors, and the relationship management team, supporting new business origination and client relationship management while working with PSG Program Managers to develop and execute sales and content strategies.
Key Responsibilities: Serve as a fixed income subject matter expert. Translate complex market and investment information into clear, understandable language and communication tools. Collaborate with portfolio advisors and relationship managers to develop tailored portfolio solutions using NTAM and non-NTAM products to meet client needs. Conduct detailed portfolio analyses and provide thoughtful recommendations. Travel to advisor offices, client events, and conferences to promote NTAM investment solutions. Work with PSG Program Managers to implement sales and content strategies aligned with PSG's focus areas. Partner with internal teams (Investments, Marketing, Product Management) and broader WCG teams to execute business plans. Stay informed on market developments, industry trends, and the competitive landscape. Qualifications: 5+ years of investment-related experience with fixed income expertise. Strong knowledge of investment solutions, ideally from relevant roles (e.g., portfolio manager, research analyst). Excellent investment acumen and analytical skills. Proven team player with strong communication skills. Experience servicing investment advisors or financial intermediaries. Requisite FINRA securities licenses preferred; to be obtained within 180 days of employment. Bachelor's degree; CFA, CIMA, or similar designations preferred.
