COO Position Summary: The
Marketing Director
is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role responsible for driving the development and execution of integrated marketing and product support initiatives across the organization. While initially operating as a self-managed individual contributor, this role is structured to evolve into a leadership position with growing responsibilities and potential direct reports. The Director will lead marketing and product-related activities, in addition to limited Product Management responsibilities and will serve as the central point of coordination across internal departments, vendors, and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with tactical execution, excels in a B2B or industrial environment, and is comfortable shifting between high-level planning and day-to-day execution. Relocation Assistance possible. Key Responsibilities: Own and execute the marketing roadmap aligned with business goals. Manage and enhance all internal and external communications platforms, including customer and sales rep portals. Plan and lead the execution of trade shows, customer events, counter days, and open houses. Manage inventory and fulfillment of promotional items, branded materials, and product literature. Oversee website content updates and establish a scalable content change request workflow. Create and distribute press releases, marketing campaigns, and promotional content. Develop and maintain an active commercial presence across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Oversee the creation of sales support materials including catalogs, flyers, videos, and PowerPoint presentations. Maintain and expand internal marketing resources and knowledge bases (e.g., internal Wiki). Lead a weekly Marketing Operations meeting to drive alignment, accountability, and continuous improvement. Customer and Product Data Governance Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of the Customer Master in the ERP system, partnering with Credit and Sales for proper customer onboarding and data integrity. Manage the development, launch, and performance tracking of sales promotions and marketing initiatives. Product Marketing & Cross-Functional Support Act as a business partner to Product Management for the Lifeline Fire Protection group (10–20% of time allocation). Collaborate across Sales, Inventory, and Product Management to optimize positioning, pricing support, marketing alignment, and product performance analytics. Monitor product market trends, customer feedback, and competitor positioning to refine messaging and growth opportunities. Qualifications & Desired Characteristics: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (MBA preferred but not required). 7+ years of marketing experience leading programs in a B2B or industrial environment. Proven track record of both strategic planning and tactical execution in a lean or growth-stage environment. Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), CRM, and ERP tools; SharePoint and Mailchimp experience a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage data-driven campaigns and projects. High degree of initiative, ownership, and ability to prioritize effectively under tight deadlines. Flexible, pragmatic thinker comfortable operating in both structured and ambiguous environments. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional projects and communicate effectively with senior leadership. Able to scale the function over time, including building out a team and formalizing marketing operations.
