As part of Quanta Services (NYSE: PWR), we empower our customers with end-to-end engineering platforms that drive safety, quality, and productivity at scale. --- Role Overview As Director of Architecture for Engineering Platforms, you will own the strategy, design, and evolution of QISG’s engineering IT portfolio. You’ll lead the rationalization of 50+ existing applications and architect a next-generation, cloud-first platform that dramatically boosts the productivity of our engineering teams. You’ll be a hands-on technology leader, fluent in cloud services, SaaS integration, big data, and enterprise solution architecture—able to balance governance with agility to deliver robust, scalable solutions. --- Key Responsibilities · Portfolio Rationalization: o Assess and categorize current engineering applications & platforms. o Develop a high-level roadmap to consolidate, retire, or modernize systems. · Platform Architecture & Roadmap: o Define the target state architecture for a unified engineering platform. o Establish governance processes, reference architectures, and technology standards. · Cloud & SaaS Integration: o Design and implement integrations between cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SaaS tools. o Champion microservices, APIs, and event-driven patterns for extensibility. · Big Data & Analytics: o Architect data lakes, data warehouses, and analytics pipelines to surface engineering insights. o Collaborate with data engineers to operationalize data governance and security. · Solution Delivery & Leadership: o Lead a team of solution architects and engineers through design, build, and rollout. o Partner with IT, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to ensure alignment and adoption. · Performance, Security & Compliance: o Embed security-by-design principles and compliance controls (e.g., NERC CIP, ISO 27001). o Monitor platform health, cost, and performance; optimize as needed. --- Required Qualifications · Experience: o ≥10 years in enterprise/solution architecture or IT leadership roles. o Direct experience in power & utilities or AEC industries (engineering services, construction, design). · Technical Expertise: o Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and IaaS/PaaS/SaaS offerings. o Proven track record integrating large-scale SaaS applications and middleware. o Hands-on with big data ecosystems (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Azure Synapse). o Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless patterns. · Architecture Frameworks & Standards: o Strong understanding of TOGAF, Zachman, or other enterprise architecture methodologies. o Experience defining and enforcing architecture governance and standards. · Leadership & Communication: o Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and build consensus. o Excellent communication skills—able to articulate complex designs to technical and non-technical audiences. · Education & Certifications: o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). o Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF) a plus. · Travel o 35% travel
