Save Job

At ispace U.S., we’re not just going to the Moon—we’re redefining how we get there. Our missions push the boundaries of human and robotic exploration, driven by our belief: “Expand our Planet. Expand our Future.” By providing cost-effective lunar transportation, we are pioneering a future where space is within reach for scientific discovery, commercial ventures, and sustainable exploration. With locations in Japan, Luxembourg, and the United States, ispace is rapidly growing and leading the way in lunar exploration and development. Our U.S. branch is based in Englewood, Colorado, and focuses on high-capacity payload lunar landers designed to support future lunar missions. Our team is made up of innovators, problem-solvers, and visionaries committed to making space more accessible and fostering the next generation of space exploration. Let’s go to the Moon together! Our team is growing, and we are actively seeking talented individuals who share our passion for space. ispace U.S is seeking an experienced

FPGA Engineer

to support ongoing lunar lander development. You will be instrumental in creating and verifying foundational building blocks, developing and owning custom FPGA solutions, creating verification and implementation documentation, and delivering complete, validated modules. This role goes beyond technical execution—it requires proactive collaboration and mentorship within a multidisciplinary environment, working hand-in-hand with embedded, hardware, and software engineers, and sharing expertise to elevate the broader engineering team. You will have the opportunity to help define our systems from a very low level as we make strides in visiting the moon—again. Key Responsibilities

Design and implement FPGA-based digital avionics systems for space applications, using VHDL/Verilog/System Verilog. Lead system prototyping, validation, and integration testing in lab and environmental testing facilities. Use a combination of testbenches and Integrated Logic Analyzers to verify and validate design blocks. Translate high-level system requirements into detailed digital architecture and verification plans. Collaborate with software, hardware, andsystems engineering teams to ensure robust interface design and functional performance. Integrate High-speed interfaces into modularized, register-interfaced designs Review and mentor designs from team members, ensuringquality, compliance, and architectural alignment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within digital design and manufacturing quality. Document technical decisions, design justifications, and contribute to peer and customer design reviews. Participate in comprehensive image validation, using simulation, testbenches, or sideband test injection methodology; work with the team to establish effective testing strategies. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline We will consider a combination of education and experience. 5years of experience in digital avionics systems design, development, and testing. 5 years of hands-on experience with FPGA development, simulation, and validation. Proficiency with lab equipment for design debug, validation, and signal characterization. Strong understanding of digital circuit design, signal integrity, and electronic manufacturing practices. Hands-on experience developing testbenches and verification methodologies for FPGA hardware modules and complete systems. Experience integrating common peripheral interfaces, such as UART, RS422, SPI, QSPI, I2C, into FPGA designs. Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) What Makes You Stand Out!

Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience with IP integration, as well as accommodating custom, modularized systems using industry standard internal bus interfaces—APB, AXI4, etc. Experience with schematic capture/layout tools (e.g., Altium), and high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe Gen2, SATA II, SERDES, 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet). Knowledge of application specific interfaces, such as SpaceWire or Time-Triggered Ethernet. Well-versed in HDL techniques that minimize fanout and propagation delay. Experience designing radiation-hardened digital systems for aerospace applications. Familiarity and experience with supporting hardware through Verification, Qualification, and Acceptance testing campaigns for aerospace applications Knowledge of space standards and guidelines (EEE-INST-002, NASA-HDBK-4001, NASA-STD-4003, SMC-S-010, SMC-S-016). Demonstrated success in startup or fast-paced development environments. Proven ability to work cross-functionally and adapt quickly to shifting technical priorities. International collaboration experience and flexibility for domestic/international travel $101,000 - $151,000 a year The salary posted is a targeted range for budget of position.
