Full-Time Description:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Hofstra University invites applications for a tenure-track, core DPT program faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. We are seeking a faculty member with a strong academic and professional background in the learning rehabilitation for adults with neuromuscular disorders. This is a full-time position which includes teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities, with a start date of January 2, 2026. Reporting to the Director of the Physical Therapy Program, the faculty member teaches courses and content within their areas of expertise and other relevant subject areas. Faculty members are expected to engage in research and publish and present their work to contribute to the profession of physical therapy. Service expectations include activities such as instructional development, submitting and drafting documents for accreditation of the DPT program specific to teaching and academic duties, academic advising, participating in program, departmental, university, and community committees, and other appropriate responsibilities.

The new faculty member will join the team at an exciting time. The DPT program recently moved to newly renovated faculty office space and a new research and state-of-the-art instructional spaces. Spaces support diverse teaching and scholarship agendas through a variety of cutting-edge resources and equipment including VICON motion analysis with an eight-camera system, GAITRite system, Bertec force plates, CORTECH brain flow measurement system, Trigna wireless EMG system and Virtualis’ virtual reality system. Qualifications:

Earned doctoral degree in physical therapy (DPT) is required. At least three years of experience in clinical physical therapy practice, treating primarily adult patients with neuromuscular disorders. Licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of New York. Commitment to excellence in physical therapy teaching and education. Evidence of an established or emerging record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and/or presentations. Excellent communication skills with colleagues and entry-level DPT students. Evidence of productively working with teams of people.

Preferred Quals Summary:

Earned terminal doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent academic doctoral degree) in Physical Therapy, Health Sciences, or related field is preferred. Enrolled in post-professional degree or concrete plan of enrolling in post-professional degree (i.e., PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, ScD). Board certification in Neurological Physical Therapy. Teaching experience in a doctoral physical therapy program. Experience supporting accreditation efforts in compliance with CAPTE standards. Actively involved in the physical therapy profession or interest in becoming engaged in the APTA and its academies and/or chapters.
