The Indianapolis facility specializes in sheet metal fabrication and case and tray delivery systems for the orthopedic and surgical technology markets. The site operates on a first shift and a small second shift with a total of approximately 70 associates.
The Director of Operations will have facility leadership responsibility for operations, materials management, manufacturing engineering, and administrative functions in a fast-moving, automated manufacturing environment. This role includes profit and loss accountability and support for generating new business in addition to manufacturing existing products. It is a key customer-facing role with large OEM clients.

Responsibilities
Accountable for P&L performance, achieving EBITDA growth targets, and maximizing return on invested capital. Develop and execute a long-term vision for the site. Lead and coordinate Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Continuous Improvement, HR, Planning, and New Product Introduction to improve year-over-year quality metrics. Champion a Continuous Improvement culture using LEAN principles, visual systems, structured problem solving, and best practices across Viant sites. Develop strategies across supply chain, engineering, NPI, CI, automation, and HR to ensure world-class performance and competitiveness. Oversee New Product Introduction, balancing business risk, technical uncertainty, and customer communication in partnership with Sales. Collaborate with the site Controller to develop annual financial plans, monthly performance summaries, and rolling forecasts. Justify investments in training, staffing, and capital equipment. Support Customer Solutions including quoting and customer service. Lead personnel actions including hiring, promotions, performance reviews, and disciplinary measures. Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
Relevant undergraduate degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required. Proven leadership and team-building skills with a track record of managing top talent and fostering a positive culture. Demonstrated P&L management experience in a technically driven environment. Knowledge of complex manufacturing including machining, metals processing, fabrication, and product assembly. Machine shop experience desired. Working knowledge of capacity planning and supply chain management. Ability to manage advanced manufacturing technologies and develop ROI-driven financial plans. Strong customer interface skills with the ability to build relationships and drive solutions. Familiarity with FDA GMP, ISO 13485-2003, 510k, and other medical regulatory requirements. Passion for Lean Manufacturing and continuous process improvement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to conceptualize and plan for the future (6 months to 5 years). Ability to analyze and communicate deep technical material effectively.
