Lead Software Engineer - Backend, Java

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking's Personalization and Insights team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions to support the firm’s business objectives. Our product, Personalization and Insights, builds and supports high throughput, low latency applications leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning models hosted on AWS. These applications power personalized experiences across Chase channels, integrating traditional banking with services in Travel, Merchant Offers, Shopping, and Dining. Job Responsibilities
Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to address technical challenges. Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others. Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability. Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials. Drive awareness and adoption of new technologies through communities of practice. Promote a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
Formal training or certification in software engineering with 5+ years of applied experience. Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python. Deep knowledge in at least two of the following: microservice development using cloud services, stream processing (Kinesis, Flink), high-volume data processing (Spark, EMR), automation, CI/CD, application resiliency, security, containers (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS), or DAG orchestration (Airflow, Kubeflow). Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS managed services like EKS, ECS, Fargate. Experience with recommendation and personalization systems. Additional Information
