The primary responsibility of the Principal Architect is to lead the design and development of our casino management system from the ground up. This role requires a strategic mindset and a deep technical background to establish the architectural framework, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and create a robust, scalable, and secure platform. The Principal Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a comprehensive solution that enhances operational efficiency and user experience. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct. Lead the architectural design of the casino management system, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices. Design a modular and scalable architecture that incorporates microservices, API gateways, identity and access management, and integrated security measures. Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tools that align with project goals and operational requirements. Develop integration strategies for various system components, including third-party services, payment gateways, and regulatory compliance systems. Collaborate with security teams to define and implement security standards, including data encryption and access controls, ensuring compliance with gaming regulations. Continuously monitor system performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency. Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams, promoting adherence to architectural standards and fostering a culture of innovation. Maintain thorough documentation of architectural designs, decisions, and processes to support ongoing development and maintenance. Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure the architectural vision is clearly understood and effectively implemented. Perform job duties in a safe manner. Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications At least 21 years of age. Proof of authorization to work in the United States. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. 5-8 years of experience in software architecture, with at least 3 years in a principal architect role, preferably in the gaming or casino industry. Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services. Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns, including service discovery and load balancing. Knowledge of API gateways and management solutions (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway) for secure service communication. Familiarity with IAM solutions (e.g., Okta, Auth0) and protocols (e.g., OAuth 2.0) for managing user identities. Understanding of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), and automation frameworks. Demonstrated experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data security practices. Proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes). Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK Stack, Prometheus) for system health management. Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Java, Python,) and scripting for automation. Basic knowledge of application security frameworks and tools (e.g., OWASP) to identify and mitigate security risks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with management, other Team Members and outside contacts of different backgrounds and levels of experience. Physical Requirements Must be able to: Physically access assigned workspace areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
