Summary of Responsibilities Conduct commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair of complex protective relaying schemes in generation, transmission, and distribution substation environments. Operate various types of electrical test equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, etc. This position requires an intermediate to advanced understanding of interfacing software like Test Universe, Protection Suite, AcSELerator, Wireshark, etc. Facilitate retrofit, upgrade, and replacement projects for electrical controls, SCADA, DCS, and Power System Protection Equipment. Essential Job Functions
Test overcurrent/voltage, directional, distance, impedance, sync check, loss of field, reverse power, multifunction relays, etc. Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breaker controls. Conduct isolation, setpoint testing, advanced logic testing, and scheme testing (reclosing, breaker failure, etc.) Use Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe software for end-to-end relay testing to verify communication-assisted protection schemes. Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment, schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems, and related communication equipment. Develop standard written procedures for commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, and communication systems. Create customer reports detailing issues found and corrective actions taken or proposed. Represent the company professionally during interactions with vendors, customers, and service providers. Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, checkout, relay calibration, testing, and repair of substation relaying and control schemes. Experience in substation commissioning; SCADA, fault data, SER, and automation equipment installation and testing is desirable. Good understanding of protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, 8979, etc., and troubleshooting SCADA issues with protocol test sets like Wireshark, ASE 2000. Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power system protection, and control schemes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Salary: $100,000 - $350,000 Additional Details
