We are seeking an Apprentice level Solutions Architect to support a human capital initiative for the US Navy. The mission seeks to drive innovation and automation to support value added data modeling. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing secure, scalable, and efficient solutions that align with federal IT standards and agency-specific requirements. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in data management, database architecture, data modeling, and custom application development, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI). The position is hybrid and requires someone who lives in the DMV area to provide on-site support as required by the client.
Responsibilities :
Under direction, design and implement enterprise data architectures that support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows in a secure federal environment
Assist in developing and maintaining relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL) and ensure compliance with federal data governance and security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST)
Assist in creating logical and physical data models to support application development and business intelligence
Build and deploy custom low-code / no-code applications using Power Apps, integrating with SharePoint, Dataverse, and external data sources
Automate business processes and approval workflows using Power Automate, ensuring traceability and audit readiness
Design and publish interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, enabling data-driven decision-making across federal program
Collaborate with stakeholders, including program managers, analysts, and IT teams, to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Document solution architectures, data flows, and system integrations in accordance with agency documentation standards
Support system testing, deployment, and sustainment activities in compliance with federal lifecycle management practices
Travel domestically and internationally, provide in-person support at MBC and client sites, and obtain and maintain professional certifications and security clearances as required by MBC and / or MBC’s clients. These requirements are subject to change without advance notice at the discretion of MBC and MBC’s clients
Qualifications :
Active DoD Secret security clearance is required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
1-3 years of experience in solutions architecture, application development, or data engineering
Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
Strong understanding of data management, ETL processes, and database design
Experience with data modeling techniques and tools
Familiarity with federal IT compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST 800-53)
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability and willingness to travel domestically using a credit card or prepaid debit card as required by MBC and / or clients
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft certifications (e.g., Power Platform App Maker, Data Analyst Associate, Solutions Architect Expert)
Experience with Azure Government Cloud or other federal cloud environments
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodologies in a federal setting
Experience supporting digital transformation or modernization initiatives in federal agencies
Compensation Policy :
Salary ranges displayed are typical for this position, but MBC considers multiple factors when extending an offer. Factors include the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's qualifications, and the contractual terms of the program.
