Dental Assistant
Job Description
Dental Assistants provide a range of clinical, administrative and staff support to a full-range of dental services. They travel with the program to provide direct clinical and chair, side assisting in both mobile and portable settings. They are also responsible for exposing radiographs, sterilization and preparation of dental instruments as well as inventory control.
Hours: Rotating 4 days a week 7-4:30 Monday- Thursday one week and then Tuesday-Friday the next.
Responsibilities
Assists in maintenance of all Dental Department clinical areas in compliance with Dental Program directive and organization policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues., Assists with various clerical/office duties as assigned. Proficient in the use of dental software, computers, and dental records., Ensures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with organizational policy as well as state and federal regulations., Follows and maintains all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards., Interacts with and processes dental clinic patients and assists with scheduling appointments. Participates in health promotion/disease prevention activities as required., Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes., Maintains a list of Dental Program patients, monitors patient flow, and assists clinical staff in assuring that all patient records and documents are accurately completed and filed., Maintains all clinic areas in compliance with Dental Program directives and protocols, as well as policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues., Monitors and maintains dental equipment., Participates in continuing education; and obtains CDL license upon request., Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by Dentist or Dental Hygienist., Performs x-rays, exposes and develops dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Program directive and protocol., Pre/post inspection of the mobile dental bus. This includes filling and dumping of tanks, maintain the secure leveling with jacks, assist with maintenance and cleaning of the bus. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned., Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment and operatory, ensuring that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines., Promote program awareness in Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, Shelby, Effingham and Jasper counties, and with other appropriate local or state officials, Promote the program through appropriate channels to reach the eligible participants., Provides chair side assistance to dentists and/or dental hygienists in the performance of dental procedures, passing of instruments, assist in handling or passing of dental materials, place dental sealants (if certified), coronal polishing (if certified), monitor nitrous oxide (if certified)., Quickly builds and maintains trust with patients to perform dental procedures.
Requirements
