Job Summary:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in providing quality patient care and ensuring the well-being of individuals in various healthcare settings. CNAs work closely with registered nurses and other medical staff to deliver compassionate and efficient care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care:
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
• Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Provide mobility assistance and help patients with transfers.
• Communication:
• Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Report changes in patients' conditions to the supervising nurse.
• Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
• Support to Healthcare Team:
• Collaborate with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in the development and implementation of care plans.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized patient care environment.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
• Safety and Infection Control:
• Follow established protocols for infection control and safety.
• Adhere to proper lifting and transfer techniques to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare providers.
• Observation and Reporting:
• Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or emotional conditions.
• Monitor and assist with medication administration as directed by the nursing staff.
• Professional Development:
• Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to maintain and enhance CNA skills.
• Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
• Certification: Completion of a state-approved CNA training program and current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Connecticut.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
• Physical Stamina: Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that involve lifting and moving patients.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to state and federal regulations governing healthcare practices.
