JOB SUMMARY
nThe Medical Transcriptionist 1 transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals in order to document patient care.
nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
nTranscribes confidential medical and non-medical dictation in prescribed formats using/operating designated computer, dictation, and transcription equipment as directed to document patient care and ensure continuity in care planning activities.
nAccurately interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment in a timely manner to meet production standards and in accordance with established policies and procedures as measured in management reports.
nAdheres to English term usage to correctly document medical records.
nObtains additional information needed to ensure complete documentation of records.
nRequests assistance to interpret dictation that is unclear or inconsistent, and/or makes use of professional materials in a timely manner.
nInteracts with physicians and internal customers in a professional and courteous manner.
nKEY SUCCESS FACTORS
nWord processing experience required.
nAble to type 60 wpm with 85% accuracy required.
nDemonstrates understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, signs and symptoms, medications and laboratory values.
nExcellent listening skills, and oral and written communication skills required.
nCertified Medial Transcription Certificate preferred.

Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent level of education.
