nPatient Care Technician - Emergency Room
nPart-time, .50 FTE
nNights, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, weekend rotation
nnThe Patient Care Technician assists in patient care throughout all nursing areas. Duties include assisting patients with their ADL’s, transporting patients in various types of equipment and ambulation, documentation of care and treatments done and observes patients for safety and condition change and reports to appropriate staff.

nResponsibilities
nDelivery of Care
n- n
- Assists patients with ADL’s according to hospital procedures, reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse in charge of patient. Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assist devices as appropriate to protect patient and staff member. n
- Assists with restocking of rooms and maintain a safe and clean environment. n
- Follows all established infection control policies and recognizes role in providing safety to the patient. n
- Obtain EKG under the direction of the Registered Nurse. n
- Transfer of patients to other areas of the hospital under the direction of the Registered Nurse. n
- Insertion of urinary catheters under the direction of the Registered Nurse. n
- Cleaning and general housekeeping of rooms between patients. n

- Documents vital signs, weights, activity, intake and outputs, and ADL care given to patient in electronic health record. n
Qualifications
nnMinimum Requirements
nIdentify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.
nPreferred or Specialized
nNot required to perform the essential functions of the position.
nEducation:
n n nnHigh school graduate or equivalent
nEnrollment in a Nursing Program
nExperience:
nnnnnPrevious hospital or nursing home experience preferred
nEMT/Paramedic, Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
nLicense(s)/Certification(s):
nnnnnBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of hire.
nnCertified nursing assistant, certified medical assistant, emergency medical technician license, paramedic license or completion of training in nursing school that covers nursing assistant type duties.
nnMust be CPI/MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behaviors) certified within the first 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment (renewal every 2 years).
nnKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
nnnnnBasic computer knowledge
nAbility to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
nKnowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred.
nAbility to move and lift patients and use appropriate equipment.
nAbility to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
nEffective interpersonal relationships and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).
