Job Description
Oversee the daily business functions of the assigned division or district section that may include financial management, project accounting and procurement activities.
How you will contribute: Administrative and Business Support: Provide a variety of administrative support functions to assigned work unit. Interpret a variety of VDOT, State and Federal policies and procedures in daily work tasks. Fiscal and Budget: Coordinate financial and budgetary activities for assigned work unit. Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, reconcile data and prepare reports. Procurement: Develop, coordinate and oversee Division or District specific contracts that support the delivery of the core program. Review invoices and vouchers, make payments and reconcile data.
What will make you successful: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Ability to research, analyze, format financial data and prepare reports and recommendations. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices. Knowledge of procurement principles and practices. Skill in the use of computers and web-based systems including electronic procurement and financial management systems.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Ability to research, analyze, format financial data and prepare reports and recommendations. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices. Knowledge of procurement principles and practices. Skill in the use of computers and web-based systems including electronic procurement and financial management systems.
Additional Considerations: A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field desired. Knowledge of federal and state accounting principles and practices. Prior work experience with financial management systems. Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO).
