Job Details
* Prepare detailed cost estimates by reviewing plans, specifications, and performing quantity take-offs for select trades * Evaluate design drawings and fully understand the scope of work for each bid * Manage the end-to-end bidding process, from preparation through closeout * Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure coverage of all scopes of work * Review and analyze subcontractor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with scope * Present cost and budget information to clients and project teams * Apply value engineering strategies to identify opportunities for cost savings * Assess project risks and develop mitigation strategies * Collaborate with project and construction managers to develop schedules * Participate in contract negotiations to secure favorable terms * Stay current with industry practices through ongoing professional development
Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in substation or electrical utilities estimating (strongly preferred) * Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Management, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) * Proven track record in high-voltage transmission line and substation erection projects * Skilled in preparing accurate budgets, estimates, and competitive bids * Proficiency in value engineering and cost analysis * Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, codes, and legal requirements * Demonstrated risk assessment and mitigation skills * Experience in scheduling, subcontracting, and supplier management * Strong negotiation skills with a history of securing favorable terms * Excellent communication skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, engineers, and contractors * Experience with estimating software and related industry technology
