Department Description:
MSAT Process Data Science & Digital Transformation (MSAT DSD) is a transversal team within the Global MSAT organization. MSAT DSD is the data/digital DNA within the processes allowing us to ensure best in class manufacturing & analytical processes, especially by focusing on data/digital innovations & excellence, aiming to guarantee acceleration and securing launches & improvement as well as sustainability for our current processes.
The Co-op position is in DSD Mechanistic Modeling & Process Control group. The group develops and implements advanced process modeling and technologies (e.g. Digital twins, PAT) to enable Sanofi to better understand, monitor, and control the manufacturing operations, and deliver innovative, robust, and cost-effective next-generation processes. The group is highly cross functional in its interactions across R&D and manufacturing, and provides scientific, technical, process engineering expertise to these organizations
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of process modeling and new technologies (focusing on modeling bioreactor and cell culture processes) for improved process tech transfer/scale-up, monitoring and control strategies:
• Modify existing simulations to adapt to process changes and better understand the cell culture process
• Use simulations and process data to identify atypical results
• Test capabilities of simulation platform and user interface for application to a new use case
• Work as part of a team, engaging with other scientists and engineers with complementary skill sets
• Generate documents (presentations, user guides, reports) related to learnings and achievements
About You
Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled and pursuing a Master's, or PhD in Chemical/Biological Engineering, Data/Computer Science, or a related field at an accredited college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2028. Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship. Experience with programming in Python or similar for data analysis/modeling Understanding of basic concepts of chemical reaction, cell growth and metabolism Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of biomanufacturing processes, particularly in cell culture, fermentation, or bioreactor operations. Familiarity with process modeling (mechanistic/hybrid modeling, chemometric modeling e.g. PAT Raman) and control Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and scientific teams. Key Learnings:
