Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Executive Director for the Center for Online Learning & Instructional Technology (COLIT): Serve as pedagogical lead, providing strategic and operational supervision in digital learning innovation. Champion innovation in teaching practices through the adoption of digital tools, AI, open educational resources (OER), and learning analytics. Collaborate with faculty to support the design and delivery of high-quality online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses. Co-develop and implement COLIT strategic plans with a focus on academic innovation and student success Supervise instructional design staff and ensure adherence to quality course development frameworks (e.g., ACUE Effective Teaching Practice Framework and Quality Matters). Lead faculty development workshops, training sessions, and consultations related to course design, digital education tools, learning outcomes, and instructional best practices. Evaluate emerging digital educational technologies and recommend scalable tools that enhance teaching and learning. Ensure accessibility and universal design are integrated into course development and delivery. Coordinate internal reviews and external compliance with accreditation standards related to online learning. Analyze data on student engagement and course outcomes to drive continuous learning improvements. Serve as a liaison between academic departments, student services, and OIT to ensure a seamless online learning experience. Develop standards, documentation, reports, and strategic proposals for leadership and stakeholders. Manage departmental projects, budgets, and personnel. Represent the TSU Center for Online Learning & Instructional Technology at internal and external meetings, conferences, and events. Perform other related duties as assigned. % FTE:

$80,870.19 - $103,109.49 Education:
Masters degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Learning Design and Technology, or a closely related field.
Doctorate (Ph.D or Ed.D) in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Learning Design and Technology, or a closely related field preferred.
Required Licensing/Certification:
Quality Matters or Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Effective Online Teaching Practice credential preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in instructional design, online teaching, faculty development, or educational technology leadership Demonstrated leadership or management experience in large-scale instructional technology projects, preferably including LMS transitions (e.g., Blackboard to Canvas) Experience supporting or leading faculty development and professional learning programs focused on digital pedagogy, online teaching, or AI integration Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas and Blackboard Ultra, including hands-on experience with course design, support, and administration Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including IT, faculty, student success, and institutional research teams
Preferred Experience:
Seven (7+) years of progressively responsible experience in:
Instructional design, online teaching, or faculty development Leadership or management of large-scale instructional technology projects (e.g., LMS transitions, digital transformation initiatives) Supervising and mentoring instructional design or digital learning staff Designing and delivering professional development for faculty, especially in digital pedagogy and AI integration Collaborating with cross-functional teams (IT, academic affairs, student success, institutional research)
Demonstrated experience with:
Advanced learning analytics and the integration of artificial intelligence in education Implementation and scaling of teaching credentialing programs (e.g., ACUE, digital badges, inclusive teaching certifications) Project management (certification such as PMP or Agile is a plus) Leading initiatives that support inclusive excellence and the success of first-generation and marginalized students Developing accessible and universally designed learning experiences (knowledge of UDL and accessibility standards) Track record of innovation in digital teaching tools, emerging technologies (AI, XR, adaptive learning), and open educational resources Working/Environmental Conditions:
