Job Title: Senior Software Engineer III

We need a
Javascript / front-end / back-end
and open-source developer
to contribute to Perfetto (https://perfetto.dev/) and BPF log visualizer projects . We have a list of feature requests for each project. Once contractor starts working, we will adjust requirements based on their performance and skills.
About the team: The Kernel team, part of the Linux org, is working on various efficiency projects as part of the overall efficiency push. In particular, we delivered two profilers,
Systing
and
Wprof , that help debug and optimize our client's AI workloads in particular and workloads in general. Both these profiles generate information to be consumed by Perfetto, an open source platform to render profiling results.
Senior engineers on the Kernel team need to improve Perfetto (https://perfetto.dev/) to better support internal efficiency work. Additionally, kernel team develops BPF, a safe way to extend Linux kernel. BPF is heavily used to optimize networking and improve observability. To support BPF developers our client implemented a tool,
BPF log visualizer
(https://github.com/libbpf/bpfvv), to better highlight BPF errors for developers.
Job Responsibilities:
Modify existing databases and database management systems. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Skills:
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage one's time. Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Knowledge of the
full software development lifecycle : from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc. Must Have:
Frontend: Javascript, React Experience working in an

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
