About the Department:
The Antonin Scalia Law SchoolLLM (Master of Laws) Program provides the opportunity to earn an advanced degree in law to students who have earned a JD from a US law school or a law degree from outside of the US. The Juris Masters (JM) Program provides the opportunity to obtain a law degree in a specific field for students who work in policy or compliance related positions, but do not wish to practice law.
The Law School currently offers the following programs: LLM in Global Antitrust Law and Economics (residential and online); LLM in Intellectual Property Law (residential); LLM in US Law (residential and online); LLM in Cyber, Intelligence, & National Security Law; and the Juris Masters degree (hybrid and online).
About the Position:
The Associate Director of Graduate Admissions is the lead administrator working with recruitment and matriculation of the Law School's LLM, JM, and non-degree programs. The position is responsible for the growth of the LLM, JM, and non-degree programs, and must have a passion for marketing and expanding academic programs.
Responsibilities:
Admissions Leadership:
Develops and administers a recruitment calendar cycle to facilitate three semesters of enrollment (Fall, Spring, and Summer); In collaboration with the scholarship committee, identifies student profiles appropriate for consideration and administer scholarship distribution; Develops and administers the marketing and recruitment budget in consultation with the Director of Finance and the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies; Serves as a liaison to departments such as the library, technology department, career services office, academic advising team, and others in relation to JM and LLM matriculation and orientation; Works with faculty, the Assistant Dean for Student Academic Affairs, and the Assistant Director, LLM Student Academic Affairs & Assessments, on LLM schedule planning to accommodate incoming classes; Works collaboratively with the Assistant Director, LLM Student Academic Affairs & Assessments to organize a vibrant program of professional and social activities for LLM students and coordinate event logistics in relation to orientation. Admissions and Recruiting :
Develops specialized marketing for LLM programs, including writing and distributing printed materials, emailing system, creating and updating Web materials, and advertising; Organizes and attends webinar and in-person tabling recruitment events to facilitate outreach and prospective student collection; Works with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies to pursue MOUs and other collaboration agreements that will lead to student pipelines; Plans frequently asked question responses and train team members on answers; Responds to questions from prospective applicants; Conducts all LLM admissions processes including application revisions/updates, application review, applicant interviews, and prospective applicant inquiry responses; Works with law faculty on yield activities to encourage admitted students to matriculate. Student Journey:
Works with the academic advising team to facilitate student transitions to orientation, program planning, and enrollment; Works with Mason's Office of International Programs and Services to facilitate resolution of visa issues for LLM admits; Provides guidance on housing for LLM admits. Performs other duties related to the position as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Higher education teaching and academic administration experience; Considerable admissions experience (typically 3-5 years); Understanding of admission recruitment at a university, especially online and on campus law school graduate programs; Knowledge of best practices in graduate recruitment and enrollment management; Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Banner, Unite, and Dynamic Forms; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues across a complex institutional framework; Ability and desire to travel independently by air, automobile, train or bus; and Some international travel. Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree in related field; Law degree from an ABA accredited law school (JD, LLM, JM or equivalent); Experience in admissions or other university affairs settings, preferably in legal education; Professional experience recruiting; and Fluency in multiple languages, particularly Korean.
