Job Title:
Maintenance I (Groundskeeper) Facilities / Operations
Reports to:
Ground Supervisor and Director of Facilities and Maintenance

Contracted days:
240 days
Job Summary:
To maintain grounds, fields and other outside areas of the district.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Prior grounds experience preferred Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Valid SC Driver's License Such alternatives to the above qualifications as District Administration may find appropriate and acceptable Essential Duties:
Cuts lawns, trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls Operates a small tractor in maintaining grounds Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs Cuts down and removes trees as required Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides Rakes, bags, and burns leaves Cleans grounds and removes litter Digs and refills ditches Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs Waters lawn and shrubs Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts Loads and unloads trucks Moves and carries heavy material such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, furniture, etc. Washes, cleans and maintains vehicles Demonstrates commitment to work by follow-ups on work orders Participates in educational programs and training classes Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds Supervisor may assign other duties and responsibilities as needed
Physical Requirements:
Frequently stand and walk for extended periods; stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up or move objects, equipment, and furniture; ability to perform heavy physical labor for sustained periods of time; physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communications; use hand and power tools, including commercial lawnmowers, tractors, and weed eaters.
