This role ensures adherence to all applicable coding regulations, policies, and best practices while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.What You Will DoProvide leadership and guidance to the coding team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.Oversee recruiting, hiring, orientation, and development of staff; conduct timely performance evaluations and ensure ongoing competency.Train and/or supervise training for new employees, equipping them with tools and knowledge for success.Set performance objectives and productivity metrics; monitor and assess team performance.Counsel and discipline staff as necessary, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies and compliance with all laws.Plan and organize work schedules based on workload; approve PTO and ensure payroll accuracy.Serve as backup for other leaders when needed.Listen to employee concerns and ideas; respond promptly and professionally while maintaining confidentiality.Participate in Compliance and Revenue Cycle Committees as assigned.Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including coding days, Pre-A/R, and coding accuracy.Ensure timely submission of organizational reporting requirements.Develop and implement process improvements across the revenue cycle.Oversee quality, safety, and compliance assessments; establish internal control procedures.Manage departmental expenses, seeking cost reduction opportunities.Maintain and update departmental policies and procedures.Stay current with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and industry trends through professional development.Monitor vendor and outsourcing performance; address issues with senior leadership as needed.What You Will NeedEducation: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of medical coding experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC required.Skills:Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and compliance standardsProven leadership, team development, and conflict resolution skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesProficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred) and Microsoft Office SuiteKeywords:Coding Supervisor, Medical Coding Manager, Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, HIM Supervisor, Clinical Coding, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Coding Compliance, Medical Records, Epic Systems, Coding Accuracy, Coding Leadership, Coding Team Management, Coding Quality Assurance, Healthcare Administration, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, Medical Billing and Coding, Coding Productivity, Coding Audits, Revenue Cycle Optimization, Coding Policies, Healthcare Compliance, Coding Process Improvement.
