Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) offers a 4-5 month paid training program to become a certified Pharmacy Technician. Learn through online classes and hands-on experience at one of our hospital or retail sites. Program Highlights: Earn While You Learn: Earn a full-time wage while completing the Pharmacy Technician University program (approx. 4-5 months).Become Certified: We prepare you for the MA Pharmacy Technician license and a position upon program completion and passing the exam.Structured Training: 40 hours/week (32 hours on-site at a BILH facility, 8 hours remote online learning).Real-World Experience: Combine weekly online lessons with practical experience alongside healthcare professionals.Locations Include: Hospitals: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, Needham and Milton) Joslin Diabetes Center, Lahey Hospital Medical Center, Mount Auburn Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, Winchester Hospital.Retail Pharmacies: BILH Shapiro (Boston), BILH Bowdoin (Dorchester), BILH Direct (Westwood).Qualifications: Proficient in English.High School Diploma or equivalent.Commitment to the full-time training program and 1 year of subsequent full-time employment.Desirable traits: adaptability, dependability, detail-oriented.Competencies: Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are based on specific instructions, standard practices and established procedures which generally require little or no supervision.Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.Independence of Action: Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.Age based Competencies: Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Neonatal:Birth to 6 months, Youth: 6 months to 16 years, Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 - over.Social/Environmental Requirements: Work requires periods of close attention to work with out interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required. Work routine is fairly consistent, but employee needs to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week. Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditionsSeveral times a week: Exposure to dust, gas, fumes , steam, chemicals, Protective equipment required (Respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear etc), Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or airborne pathogens, Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens.Health Care Status: HCW 3: Regular provision of service in a patient care area.
