Their expertise spans civil engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, environmental consulting, master planning, drone services, and municipal representation. Dedicated to delivering innovative, cost-effective, and constructible designs, they expertly guide complex projects, from initial feasibility through permitting, approvals, and construction whilst always advocating for their clients’ vision. Position Overview As Director of Land Development, you’ll bridge strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. You will steer project portfolios, coach and inspire our multidisciplinary team, engage with clients face-to-face, and help accelerate company growth through the strong project pipeline they currently have. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Growth Co-create and implement land development strategies with senior leaders that align with the consultancy’s vision and growth ambitions. Identify opportunities to expand services ranging from civil engineering and landscape planning to environmental and surveying solutions and deepen existing client relationships. Project Oversight & Delivery Lead and oversee complex site development projects involving stormwater management, grading, utility and roadway design, permitting (including NPDES and floodplain analyses), erosion/sediment control, and master planning. Ensure seamless collaboration across engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and environmental teams. Champion projects through all phases: feasibility, design, permitting, and construction observation while safeguarding timelines, budgets, and regulatory compliance. Client Engagement & Advocacy Meet directly with clients and stakeholders, serving as their trusted advisor and advocate throughout the development process. Drive exceptional client experience by understanding project goals, offering creative, constructible design solutions, and ensuring smooth permit navigation across local, state, and federal agencies. Team Development & Culture Mentor, coach, and develop project managers, engineers, surveyors, and technical staff, encouraging ongoing professional development and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and client-centered service while supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace where every team member feels valued. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field (PE, PLS, or RLA certification preferred but not mandatory). Minimum of 10 years of experience in land development, civil/site engineering, and multidisciplinary project leadership. Proven track record in managing complex permitting, feasibility analysis, and construction administration across diverse project types. Strong business development acumen and a growth mindset focused on expanding services and client relationships. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills, with a knack for both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
