$80,000–$100,000 base salary A well-established medical malpractice law firm in Chicago is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented
Legal Nurse Consultant
to support its litigation team. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to apply clinical expertise in a legal setting, contributing to high-stakes cases involving medical negligence and personal injury. Key Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assess standards of care, causation, and damages Prepare medical chronologies, timelines, and summaries for attorney review Assist in evaluating the merits of medical malpractice claims and identifying key medical issues Coordinate expert witness consultations, including scheduling reviews and depositions Translate complex medical information into clear, concise language for legal teams and clients Support trial preparation, including development of exhibits and witness preparation Stay current on medical procedures, terminology, and standards relevant to active cases Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience, preferably in acute care, emergency, or surgical settings Prior experience in legal consulting or medical malpractice litigation preferred Strong understanding of medical terminology, documentation, and standards of care Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software
Additional Information: Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 184 hours a year, 13 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
