Great American Insurance Group’s Property and Casualty Legal Department is looking for an attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will be a professional with excellent communication and analytical skills who complements our existing team. This individual will work a hybrid schedule from our offices in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio or Richfield, Ohio (greater Cleveland area).
Our legal team is dedicated to providing the best possible legal and regulatory support to Great American, and our team members must demonstrate flexibility while working as both subject matter specialists and general advisors.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Research, analyze and interpret insurance laws and regulations. Provide legal counsel to business units on regulatory requirements and other legal matters. Monitor, track and report on emerging legislation and regulations. Research and write memoranda and other legal documents. Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements One to seven years of legal experience working for a law firm, in-house legal department, or in a compliance role. Juris doctor degree from an accredited law school. Active law license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Ability to solve problems and to provide practical, risk-based advice. Communicate clearly and concisely. Common sense, good judgment, and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues. Prior insurance experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and in a team. Ability to travel as needed. The level and title of this position will be commensurate with experience.
