Working from the

Glendale district office , you’ll support the

Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk

in overseeing financial operations, guiding risk strategies, and driving commercial performance across multiple large-scale projects.

Role Overview

As Assistant Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing financial systems, analyzing performance, and advising on risk across the district. You will work closely with leadership, project teams, and external stakeholders to ensure robust financial practices, proactive risk management, and contractual compliance.

Core Responsibilities

Mentor and develop accounting and administrative teams, including finance staff, payroll, and admin support. Collaborate with senior leadership and operations to shape and execute district-level financial strategies. Deliver training and guidance to internal teams on financial procedures and commercial risk awareness. Lead the district’s annual financial planning and budgeting processes. Monitor and manage cash flow, receivables, and financial KPIs across projects. Partner with project teams to identify cost deviations early and implement mitigation plans. Contribute to the development of the district’s overall risk strategy. Oversee insurance and bonding processes, subcontractor default insurance, and legal claim coordination. Review, negotiate, and approve variations to supplier, subcontractor, and consultant contracts. Provide insight and direction on owner contracts, subcontracts, and joint venture risks. Support preconstruction and project pursuit efforts to identify and address potential risks and opportunities. Analyze district and project financial performance, including profitability, trends, and budget compliance. Advise leadership with insights on project viability, commercial risk exposure, and financial health. Assess joint venture partner financial strength and verify funding sources for new projects. Lead responses to owner audits, claims, and financial disputes as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a project-based environment 5+ years of leadership experience managing finance/accounting teams Construction industry experience is strongly preferred Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and risk evaluation Proficient in reviewing and negotiating contract language Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and drive accountability across departments

What’s on Offer:
