The
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Professional
will lead safety and compliance initiatives at our client’s
data centers . This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety for employees, contractors, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have experience in
data centers, critical infrastructure, or high-tech environments
and possess a strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. The EHS Professional should be well-versed in industry regulations, have strong leadership skills, and be dedicated to cultivating a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will be highly comfortable with technology, as this position involves using communication-intensive systems. Applicants should demonstrate strong technical aptitude and the ability to navigate and manage communication tools or platforms efficiently. Essential Skills: Policy and Program Development: Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide EHS policies, procedures, and programs tailored to data center operations and construction environments. Ensure alignment of EHS initiatives with organizational objectives and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Training and Development: Organize, conduct, and oversee safety training programs for employees and contractors, educating them on necessary safety protocols, emergency response, hazardous materials, and safe work practices. Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed to address the evolving needs of data centers and construction environments. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, and site inspections to identify potential safety concerns Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including emergency response plans tailored to construction-related incidents and data center-specific risks such as high-voltage equipment, battery storage systems, HVAC, and confined space work. Incident Management: Investigate and document workplace accidents, near-misses, or other incidents in both construction and data center operations. Collaborate with departments to implement corrective actions and reduce the recurrence of safety incidents. Conduct root cause analyses and ensure proper incident reporting to leadership and regulatory agencies. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with EHS regulations and industry standards specific to both construction and data centers. Ensure all company operations and activities comply with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant safety standards. Prepare for and lead audits from regulatory agencies. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track, analyze, and report on EHS metrics to monitor safety performance, identify trends, and implement improvements. Provide regular reports to senior management with recommendations based on analysis.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in
Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field . 5 years
of EHS experience in
data centers, critical facilities, construction, or industrial environments. Strong knowledge of
OSHA, NFPA, EPA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant safety standards . Certifications preferred:
CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technician), or similar. Experience with
contractor safety programs
and vendor management. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ability to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
