Job Summary: The Nederman Buyer is responsible for coordinating the procurement and allocation of supplies and materials to meet customer expectations efficiently and cost-effectively. This salaried position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager. The Buyer plays a key role in controlling costs while ensuring a smooth and continuous product flow to support manufacturing operations. Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Analyze purchase requisitions and determine the need for purchase orders based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and production schedules. Issue, maintain, and update purchase orders, ensuring accurate tracking of shipments and timely communication with suppliers. Expedite critical parts and materials when inventory levels are low to minimize disruption to production operations. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including monitoring supplier performance metrics such as quality, delivery, and cost. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and value improvements. Manage and maintain parts master data within IFS Cloud, incorporating updates from engineering and supplier feedback (e.g., lead times, pricing). Coordinate with third-party logistics providers to schedule pickups, approve freight quotes, and monitor shipment status; update purchase order tracking accordingly. Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to align procurement activities with operational needs. Assist in supplier qualification and onboarding processes to ensure supplier compliance with company standards. Maintain accurate procurement documentation and prepare regular reports on supplier performance, order status, and inventory criticality. Support inventory management efforts through participation in cycle counts and stock level optimization. Provide cross-functional support to Production Planners, the Senior Buyer, and the Supply Chain Manager, while also completing additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
Qualifications Your Experience & Education
1–3 years of experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Logistics, or Packaging preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field (BA or BS acceptable) Foundational knowledge of production processes and quality control. Excellent math and analytical skills. Time management and deadline focus is required. Organizational and time-management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; advanced skills considered an asset. Familiarity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) or scheduling software SAP or IFS scheduling experience is required. Knowledge or interest in LEAN, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies preferred.
