machinery manufacturing
industry is seeking a
Field Service Technician
to support national clients with the
installation, repair, and servicing of CNC and sheet metal equipment . Based in
Chicago , this is a hands-on role that involves significant travel and customer interaction, making it ideal for someone with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and commission CNC machinery and sheet metal equipment at customer sites Perform diagnostics, repairs, and testing of machines and system components Identify parts needed for replacement and coordinate orders Interpret technical drawings, layouts, and schematics Manage service calls with minimal supervision and clear communication Maintain service records and provide excellent customer support
Required Competencies:
Mechanical: Basic understanding of mechanical systems Ability to read mechanical layouts and engineering drawings Skilled in using standard hand tools for machine tool repair
Electrical: Basic knowledge of electrical safety procedures Ability to operate a multimeter for testing and diagnosis
General: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Customer-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills Effective under pressure and capable of managing time independently Team player with solid verbal communication abilities Comfortable handling travel and the demands of a service-focused role
Education & Experience:
College or university degree, or equivalent technical experience (preferred but not essential) Prior experience with CNC machinery or industrial equipment is strongly preferred
