Summary The

Senior Estimator

is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large-scale, complex, commercial painting and coatings projects. This role contributes directly to the company’s success by supporting bid acquisition, analyzing project scope and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure proposals are complete, timely, and aligned with client expectations.

Responsibilities Review & analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope, schedule, and estimating requirements. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or similar software. Prepare comprehensive proposals and submit bids to general contractors and clients in alignment with project timelines. Conduct bid reviews and follow up with clients to clarify scope, value engineering opportunities, or pricing strategies. Coordinate with Leadership and Project Managers to ensure alignment on estimates, production expectations, and project approach. Assemble project start-up folders and participate in preconstruction reviews. Organize product data submittals and coordinate with vendors to order samples, drawdowns, and material specifications. Assist with field reviews to validate jobsite conditions and support estimate accuracy. Maintain organized documentation of estimates, bid tracking, and historical project data. Participate in internal estimating process improvements, team collaboration efforts, and Division meetings. Maintain and improve historical pricing data, templates, and estimating systems. Contribute to strategic growth through market research, lead follow-up, and industry networking.

Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on commercial painting estimating. Strong working knowledge of construction documents, digital plan review (Bluebeam), and takeoff software (OST or equivalent). A strong understanding of the commercial painting industry, including labor practices and material costs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Effective communication skills—both verbal and written—with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving ability; able to identify issues and implement long-term solutions. Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with a willingness to contribute to a growing and evolving division. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
