Sign Language Interpreter
for an on-site, contracted position supporting secondary school students in the Bay City, Michigan area for the 2025–26 school year. Position Details: Start Date : August 11, 2025 Hours : 20-40 hours per week Location : On-site at schools in Bay City, MI Grades : K-12 Role Type : 1:1 student support
Responsibilities: Provide real-time interpreting services between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL). Support a single student in academic and school-related activities. Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and understanding. Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in all educational settings.
Qualifications: Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter - EIPA with score of 3.5+ Alternative Certifications (Accepted for Employment): RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certifications:NIC (National Interpreter Certification)CI/CT (Certificate of Interpretation/Transliteration) CDI (Certified Deaf Interpreter), in some casesBEI (Board for Evaluation of Interpreters) certification (if transferring from another state) Experience in K–12 or secondary school environments preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work full-time on-site in Bay City, MI.
