Safety Coordinator Salary Range $65,000 to $75,000 benefits/401 k/Health care Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Safety Coordinator to lead safety initiatives across our trucking operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in driver safety, regulatory compliance, accident investigation, and training. This role is also responsible for overseeing the safety committee, administering accident and incident reporting, managing insurance communications, and creating safety processes that align with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive safety training for company drivers and owner-operators, including onboarding, corrective coaching, and continuous education. Monitor driver behavior using Lytx DriveCam or similar systems to identify and address unsafe practices. Administer the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents: Interview involved parties and witnesses Review camera footage and collect supporting evidence Compile detailed investigation reports in a timely manner Recommend corrective or disciplinary actions Manage all correspondence with insurance companies. Coordinate and communicate with insurance providers to ensure timely claim submissions, investigations, and resolutions. Develop and maintain structured processes for incident response, claim follow-up, and risk management to ensure timely completion of company objectives. Manage Workers’ Compensation (WC) cases and documentation. Enforce safety compliance through structured disciplinary processes, coaching, and documentation. Oversee and improve safety programs with a focus on risk mitigation, loss prevention, and regulatory adherence. Design and implement engaging training programs with a lifecycle approach to employee development and accountability. Conduct regular safety audits (vehicles, terminals, documentation) to ensure DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA compliance. Collaborate cross-functionally to drive safety standards and ensure interdepartmental alignment with safety objectives. Maintain accurate and current records of all incidents, inspections, claims, and safety trainings. Lead the Safety Committee: schedule and facilitate meetings, track action items, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Analyze incident and near-miss data to identify trends and develop proactive safety improvement strategies.

Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred. Associate degree or safety certification may be accepted with strong relevant experience. Experience: 1–5 years in a safety-related role, ideally within trucking, logistics, construction, or industrial environments. Knowledge of dealing with CDL A driver, FMCSA requirements/Owner Operators/Fleet Safety Proven track record in accident investigation, insurance coordination, and developing training or safety programs. Skills: Communication: Clear verbal and written communication for training, investigations, and cross-team coordination. Organization: Strong administrative skills to manage records, follow-up items, and multiple safety programs. Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret safety data and recommend strategic improvements. Industry Knowledge: Familiar with FMCSA regulations, Smith System, CSA scores, Clearinghouse, and DOT compliance. Leadership: Effective at leading meetings, safety audits, and coaching teams on safety best practices. Attention to Detail: Essential for accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and risk identification. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA safety regulations. Experience with safety management systems and incident tracking software is a plus.
