I am partnered with with a global energy and infra company seeking an experienced In House Counsel to join its legal team in Houston.
The company are actively expanding their North American renewable energy pipeline, with a strong focus on solar and energy storage system (ESS) projects.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to work at the heart of project development, helping structure, negotiate, and support the execution of clean energy deals across the full lifecycle, from early stage development through to operations.
Key Responsibilities Provide legal support across the development, construction, and operation of utility scale solar and ESS projects Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of project related contracts, including: Site control agreements PPAs Interconnection agreements JV's, M&A documents, and membership interest transactions EPC contracts and project finance documents Lead and support negotiations with counterparties including landowners, regulators, utilities, JV partners, and lenders Partner with business development teams to identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks across various deal structures Provide general legal support on day to day matters such as service agreements, corporate resolutions, and formal communications Monitor and interpret legal developments related to renewable energy and work with external counsel as needed to support project execution
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, ideally including time in private practice and/or an in house legal team. Experience advising on renewable energy projects, particularly in solar or ESS development, construction, or operations Ability to manage complex negotiations and provide pragmatic legal advice to commercial teams High integrity, strong professional ethics, and a proactive, solutions oriented mindset Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions
