The Production Control Manager leads the planning and coordination of all raw materials- and capacity-related activities required to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory, labor, and equipment utilization. This role owns the master production schedule (MPS), inventory control strategy, and shopfloor scheduling processes, ensuring raw materials, WIP, and finished goods flow seamlessly through the plant. Production Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain a 6- to 12-week rolling MPS aligned with sales forecasts, capacity constraints, and inventory targets. Convert the MPS to detailed, sequenced job schedules; publish daily dispatch lists to supervisors. Balance load across work centers, proactively identifying bottlenecks and recommending overtime, outsourcing, or re-sequencing as needed. Inventory Control Own finished-goods, WIP, and raw-material inventory accuracy through cycle counts, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Set and adjust safety-stock, reorder-point, and min/max levels to meet inventory turn and OTIF goals. Partner with Finance and the SIOP team on disposition of slow-moving and excess inventory. Raw-Material Management Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials through ERP planning. Monitor supplier performance and escalate shortages or quality issues that could impact production. Capacity & Constraint Analysis Map routings, standard times, and equipment availability in the ERP system to reflect actual conditions; perform weekly rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP). Partner with the SIOP team to accurately present capacity vs. demand scenarios and perform “what-if” simulations. Continuous Improvement Champion lean tools such as Kanban, pull systems, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), and 5S to reduce lead time and improve throughput. Drive enhancements to ERP/MES systems and digitize production-control processes. Leadership Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, plan attainment, inventory turns, and days of supply. Publish dashboards to communicate performance and identify improvement opportunities. Requirements: Education
– Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. Will consider Associates degree. Experience
– 7+ years in production planning, materials management, or plant operations within a make-to-order or mixed-mode manufacturing environment; 3+ years in a supervisory capacity. Systems
– Proficient with tier-1 ERP/MRP (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, etc.) and advanced planning tools; strong Excel/Power BI skills. Technical
– Solid understanding of capacity planning, inventory optimization, and shop-floor control; familiarity with lean/6σ and ISO/IATF quality standards. Soft Skills
– Data-driven decision-maker, excellent communicator, adept at cross-functional collaboration, able to thrive in a fast-changing, high-mix environment. Physical & Work Environment Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
