nJob Summary
nThe Associate Engineer is an entry or developmental level position providing engineering support in the Power Generation Technical Services Group. Performs engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Under direction of a supervisor or work leader, performs routine assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, practices, engineering systems and equipment. Focus on developing the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Provide support to Project Managers with technical, construction, quality, cost and schedule assignments. Supports the Project Manager with managing and tracking the daily activities and work progress of assigned projects.
nThe Engineer position role is fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Second level position in the engineering series provides engineering support in Power Generation Technical Services. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendations based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Distinguished from Associate Engineer by increased complexity in application of engineering skills required. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. May assist with larger engineering projects or independently manage smaller projects. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables.

nAssociate Engineer: 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience.
nEngineer: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position.

Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.

Education Requirements
nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
nMust possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET.
