Job Description This position is responsible for complex to expert level work supporting information technology application(s) through planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and providing ongoing optimization and support. Applications include electronic health records, registration, scheduling, billing and collections, lab and pathology, radiology, picture archiving and communications (PACS), cardiovascular, pharmacy, home care, long-term care, population health, consumer and patient-facing technologies, enterprise resource planning, workforce scheduling, time and attendance, customer relationship management. The Principal Analyst is responsible for overseeing technical support, configuration, integration, and maintenance for various healthcare applications throughout their lifecycle (selection, implementation, support, archival, decommissioning). The Principal Analyst will provide strategic guidance, ensure alignment with organizational goals, manage projects, and mentor other analysts, developing best practices and standards for application configuration, deployment, support, archival, and decommissioning. Principal Analysts may supervise lower-level analysts. Essential functions are performed independently with minimal supervision and include overseeing and mentoring other analysts. Essential Functions Provide support to stakeholders by analyzing and diagnosing problems to determine resolution. Gather, validate, and translate technological requirements into design and development specifications, providing product management. Configure, test, install, implement, monitor, and maintain complex systems (applications, workflows, hardware, etc.). Document and recommend workflow changes and technical/functional designs to support business requirements. Partner with external vendors to support third-party applications, including integration, support, and troubleshooting. Resolve complex issues, incidents, and problems according to service levels and department standards. Serve as Project Manager for complex projects, collaborating with the DTS Project Manager to ensure organized and managed initiatives. Review team projects, manage demand and resources, and develop remediation plans for issues. Mentor team members and identify training opportunities. Develop best practices and standards in collaboration with peers, stakeholders, and vendors. Follow documentation and change management standards. Participate in developing training and knowledge materials. Configure and integrate hardware with software to meet client specifications. Develop understanding of business reporting needs. Participate in on-call and command center responsibilities. Develop and maintain testing plans and scripts. Participate in meetings to increase awareness and information flow. Assist in project and team budget processes, including forecasting and justification. Participate in vendor or industry user groups and discussions. Manage IT project portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategy and delivery of value. Attend and facilitate meetings, advocating data-driven decision-making. Use benefit KPIs to evaluate project outcomes and provide recommendations for future governance. Provide detailed information on new projects for leadership decision-making. Conduct service reviews with business leaders and follow up on survey results and improvement processes. Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (pivot tables), Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Word. Deep knowledge of business and application processes. Knowledge of system analysis and operating systems used in hospitals. Skilled in needs assessment, documentation, and solution design. Strong problem-solving, data collection, and analytical skills. Ability to interpret industry publications, technical procedures, and regulations. Effective report writing and communication skills. Leadership in project management and resource planning. Qualifications: Required Bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare, business, or related field (additional experience may substitute with approval). Healthy Planet Compass Rose certification. 3+ years of experience with Epic Care Management tools. 2+ years recent experience building Epic Compass Rose programs. Experience with collaborative care plans and Social Determinants of Health (SDoH). Experience with Reporting Workbench reports. Additional Epic module experience, such as Ambulatory or ClinDoc. Strong technical proficiency in Epic application build, configuration, and maintenance. At least 8 years of work experience in healthcare. Physical Requirements Operate computers and IT equipment, requiring finger and hand movement. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain seated or standing for extended periods.
