Senior Data Visualization Engineer
Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a Data Visualization PPM Administrator responsible for maintaining the IT PMO system landscape, including PPM tool administration and reporting. This role involves performing PPM application administrator functions, serving as the lead contact with the software vendor, supporting PPM end-users, and producing project portfolio reports. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical and functional capabilities.
The position requires building and deploying visual products such as performance management tools, self-service reports, exception dashboards, and automated insights within PMO. Expertise in data storytelling and dashboarding solutions is essential to operationalize analytical insights and drive performance. Collaboration with IT, business stakeholders, and third parties to gather data needs and support data-driven decisions is key.
Principal Duties
Lead data visualization strategy, storytelling, and project execution for diverse audiences. Develop and implement design standards and best practices for data visualization. Maintain understanding of the IT PMO system landscape, architecture, and data across systems. Optimize the system landscape for efficient user experience and lead decommissioning efforts when necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve complex PPM application issues, engaging vendors as needed. Configure and implement system modifications with vendors. Ensure consistency across environments (Testing, Training, Production). Create PPM reports and dashboards in PowerBI, working with stakeholders to define requirements and ensure standardization. Promote adherence to PPM processes through communication. Provide backup and assistance for PPM administration duties, including user management, resource management, timesheet processing, and data validation. Develop training materials and conduct user training. Define data requirements, analyze large datasets, and translate business needs into analytic solutions. Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert in data visualization. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related fields. 5+ years of experience in data analysis, administration, or engineering, with proficiency in PowerBI. Experience transforming complex data into visual stories that inform business decisions. Working knowledge of SQL (preferred). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (macros, vlookups, pivots). Preferred experience with SpotFire, Tableau, or similar tools. Experience presenting to executive stakeholders. Work Conditions
