Job Summary:

Reporting to the CFO, the Human Resources Director serves as both a tactical and strategic business partner in key HR functions such as Recruiting, Employee Relations, Compensation/Benefits, Employee Engagement, Compliance, HR Administration (including Leaves and Workers Compensation), Performance Management, Departures/Exits, Development, and Training. This hands-on role involves working with people at all levels of the organization. The HR Director leads HR practices and objectives, advising leadership to foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture aligned with South Shore Star’s core values. The Director manages an HR Generalist/Recruiter and oversees all HR strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring metrics are in place to measure HR’s contribution to organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

Build a best-in-class HR function to support the business.

Manage HR activities and develop strategies aligned with Star’s vision, values, and expectations.

Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team, overseeing key HR functions.

Lead talent acquisition efforts, ensuring timely filling of positions.

Develop and revise HR policies and procedures to ensure a positive employee experience and legal compliance.

Partner with leadership on employee relations issues impacting operations.

Collaborate with benefits broker on plan design, communication, and participation.

Manage HR administration, reporting, payroll, benefits, leaves, and workers compensation.

Implement and oversee performance review processes following industry best practices.

Handle employee relations investigations ethically, partnering with Legal counsel.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Manage HR training programs and partner with leadership on additional training needs.

Stay informed on industry trends and employment legislation.

Manage HR technology platforms and system upgrades.

Develop and monitor HR metrics, SOPs, and KPIs.

Develop and oversee the HR departmental budget.

Track licensure, training, and evaluations for programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

8+ years of HR experience

Experience in the education industry, especially regarding licensure and evaluation programs

Credibility and integrity in HR leadership

Experience with HRIS systems

Strong presentation skills

Influential team player

Energetic self-starter with a bias for action

Objective, decisive, results-oriented, with strong team skills

Employee relations expertise and management principles knowledge

Ability to travel to Quincy, Randolph, and Weymouth locations

Satisfactory background check including fingerprinting

SHRM certification preferred
